︎︎︎ ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS & SIGNAGE (2022)

︎︎︎Worked with Hollis + Miller Architects

BRIEF ︎

Design a ground-up LEED certified Elementary School that provides a space for students and community members to come together and support one another.

CONCEPT︎

To tell the story of individuals come together to form a community, the interior design and graphics use simple shapes to form pattern and murals that create synergy. These shapes are inspired by the children’s toy of tanagrams.

Telling a Story

To help tell the history of the community, the mural illustrates the Historic Strang Line. This unqiue commuter train ran through the heart of this community to connect Kansas City.

CLASSROOM IDENTIFIES

Located at the entrance to each classroom is a panel featuring a unique illustration that ties into a theme associated with that grade level. For example, 1st grade panels depict various types of animals, while 3rd grade panels showcase forms of transportation. This educational layer creates an interesting form of wayfinding.
